I’m fond of the fragrance of carnations.
I’ve found a fascination with fringe petals.
Why do flowers represent grief?
Is it because it hurts to hold a rose?
Maybe because Love takes more time to build
compared to how quickly it corrodes,
What would it take to grow?
What if we take things slow?
After all, you are my daisy. At times you drive me crazy.
But You keep my wheels steady when the rain is heavy.
You remind me that Sunflowers still grow under the moon.
I argue that they won’t continue to flourish in a dark room
You’ll often open the window to let in the light so my bunch of flowers can smile at the sight.
Flowers are versatile. They have a way of enhancing Love, consoling grief, apologizing for wrongs, celebrating accomplishments, and comforting the sick. There’s a flower arrangement for almost any occasion. They can speak words that aren’t said. Flowers can bring a smile to one’s face or tears to their eyes, depending on the situation.
This piece was inspired by a bouquet I bought for myself. I often buy a couple of bouquets and rearrange the flowers into something specially made for myself. The first few times I did this, the arrangements looked like a random bunch of flowers. Then I realized that this is what a bouquet is—a bunch of aesthetically pleasing flowers.
How does this apply to life?
Flowers are living organisms with a life cycle. They remind me that I, too, am living. Many of us are accustomed to working long hours, making money, sleeping, eating, and repeating. It can cause one to lose touch. Coming home to flowers reminds me to open the window. It reminds me to drink water and to go outside. There is more to life than work.
In college, I always kept an orchid. I was able to grow it to flower again successfully, then somewhere along the way, I stopped giving it attention. Eventually, the orchid withered. Cultivating is possible under the right conditions. What you put your time into is what will grow.
One must consider the environment, the plant itself, or the soil. Leave a comment below.
