What to put on a Burn?
Nothing is more intriguing to colleagues than a visible wound. This past week what to put on a burn was the topic of many discussions due to a minor burn on my wrist. They would often ask what caused the burn and what I used to treat the wound. Cooking, of course! I used petroleum jelly on the wound bed and a band-aid to cover the wound.
After answering their questions, I asked, “Do you suggest anything?” I’ve received various responses, including maple syrup, aloe vera, petroleum jelly, Band-aids, and Tegaderm. According to the American Academy of Dermatology Association, after cooling the wound, it’s important to:
- Keep the wound clean.
- Keep the wound moist with petroleum jelly.
- Do not use oils or toothpaste on the open wound, it may cause infection.
- Make sure to keep it covered.

Mid-week motivation
A quote from The Stranger in the Lifeboat. In the book, one of the characters, named Lefleur, is on the shore of a desolate beach. He has lost faith due to unforeseen circumstances in his life. While observing the debris on the shoreline, Lefleur is intrigued to find a partially intact journal with legible print. The journal survived a journey across the ocean. He uses this event as a sign of hope.
Witnessing survival can make us believe in our own.
Mitch Albom
The moment is powerful for the character in the story. We can look to find hope in trivial things. The benefit of social media is the access to many people who are going through the same struggle you are going through. In addition to people who have been through what you are going through. You will pull through your current situation.
