At the end of Every month, I like to reflect on the lessons I’ve learned. October taught me how effective to-do lists are. I learned how to execute plans successfully. There were many obstacles that I had to overcome. However, over time, I completed everything on my list. During October, I also learned about Diwali, the celebration of light over darkness. More to read below.
The celebration of light
Diwali is a Hindu celebration of light; it takes place over five days. This year Diwali was from October 22 through October 26. A close friend of mine celebrates this holiday with her family. I asked her a couple of questions to understand the holiday. In this section, she shares her experiences with us.
What is Diwali? “A celebration of light over darkness. We light candles and celebrate abundance.”
What do the Candles symbolize? “We make them ourselves; the candles symbolize purity, goodness, and power.”
What do you look forward to the most? “Spending time with my family, it’s a time when we come together. “
What is one thing you want people to know about the holiday? “Honestly, Diwali can be a universal holiday. The concept could be applied to anyone.”

Poem: Sunday Morning Breakfast
Your joy is airy as a waffle
sweet like Lemonade.
Your joy is wispy like the clouds.
Warm, like the end of May.
Your joy could always make me laugh,
The reason my smile radiates.
Your joy is why I’m cheerful this morning.
I’ll see you here again, right here.
Don’t be late.
In light of the Holiday season
An update on Fort Myers: about a month ago, Hurricane Ian severely damaged the city, leaving many without power and destroying many attractions. The death toll was over one hundred. The city is still in the process of rebuilding. There has been a tremendous outpouring of support from the state and volunteers from various cities. To see individuals working together to help rebuild the city is touching.
Throughout the months of the year, many experience loss, sickness, and overall hardship. Finding something to be grateful for is essential. Although Thanksgiving is one day at the end of this month, there are many reasons to be thankful every day. When problems weigh heavy on the spirit, remind yourself of the good times.
I hope Joy finds you this Holiday season
